Picnic at Matilda Bay by White Events

Everyday on You Tube a phenomenal new proposal video is going viral.   Big proposals are the latest craze and whilst your partner is probably not expecting a flash mob in the middle of Kings Park (although I can arrange it) deep down everyone wants to have an amazing proposal story to tell their friends, family and colleagues.

I have always offered a sensational Proposal Planning service, but recently the gorgeous Steph from Bayview Flowers mentioned it to me and I thought, “I really should let more people know that I do this.”

From swimming with sharks through to fireworks over the Swan River…  You name it, I can arrange it and the sky really is the limit.  I individually tailor every proposal based on your likes and interests as a couple, so that you get an event that is personal and perfectly suited just to the two of you.

It goes without saying that I’m fabulous with the “wow factor” but I’m also a bit of a sucker for a love story, so every proposal is filled with romance and if over the top is not your thing, there is a lot to be said for a beautiful, intimate proposal and I can most definitely give you this too!

I can even arrange to have the proposal filmed, so that you can watch it back for years to come and show your kids one day.

So if you’ve got a special someone in your life and you’re thinking of popping the question, give me call first… I can just about guarantee that the answer will be “YES” with a White Events Proposal.

Touched by Angels, photos by Erica Serena Photographer and A Woman’s Touch Photography

From time to time I’ll be showcasing some of my favourite suppliers on the White Events Weddings & Events Blog and I can’t think of a better company to feature first than Touched by Angels.

Touched by Angels has been creating bespoke weddings in Perth since 1997 and has been under the direction of the same owner, Salli Dooly, since 1999.  I have worked with Salli for many years now and I can say first hand that the service and quality provided at Touched by Angels is impeccable.

The company’s creative vision is what sets them apart and the pictures speak for themselves.

Your event stylist will set the tone of the entire wedding and their work and attention to detail should immediately catch your guests’ eye.  When choosing your event stylist, Touched by Angels believes that there are a few things to take note of before selecting the stylist to trust with your most important day.

Reputation – More important than what a company has to say about themselves, is what others have to say about them.  Ask around; ask friends and family who they recommend.  Also ask your venue, but don’t stop at one, if you haven’t chosen your venue yet ask at each venues you visit who their preferred suppliers are and why.  Remember, with longevity comes experience and professionalism, a company that has been around for over a decade can offer peace of mind, because who needs any extra stress when planning a wedding!?

Testimonials – It pays to ask for recent testimonials and if they can’t produce them, you have to wonder why.

Showroom – It’s an important part of the planning process to be able to see and touch the beautiful things that will create the overall look of the wedding.  Not to mention how much fun it is to play with different colours, fabrics, flowers and centrepieces to create your unique wedding style.

Customer experience – Above all else, visiting your event stylist and creating the look and feel of your wedding should be a pleasant and enjoyable experience.  Look for a stylist who listens and respects your ideas and uses their own experience and originality to build on them to create your dream wedding.

For more details on Touched by Angels or to make an appointment to speak with a “Styling Angel” head to www.touchedbyangels.com.au or call (08) 9389 6011.

Happy styling!

I just couldn’t resist putting up a quick blog about this absolutely gorgeous trend that I just adore at the moment… Coloured bridal shoes!

Gone are the days of wearing shoes covered in the same fabric as the wedding dress.  Bold colours are the must have accessory of the moment and I can’t think of a better way to incorporate that “something blue” into your day.

Add a splash of colour to your wedding dress with some bright heels.  Not only will you be jazzing up your outfit, you’ll come out with some stunning photos.

And lets face it, what better reason do you need to buy a pair of gorgeous heels that you can wear time and time again!?

Here are just a few fabulous, colourful heels for a bit of inspiration.

It’s a pretty common theme amongst my clients that their friends can’t believe they’ve employed a Wedding Planner.  They’ve been told that they are lazy, that they are wasting money and that only people in America have Wedding Planners.

What’s my response to that?  It’s time to get with the times… All of my couples are made up of two full time workers and they have turned to me because they were exhausted by the mere thought of planning their own wedding.  Not to mention, with the abundance of choice in the wedding industry nowadays, they just didn’t know where to start or who to talk to.

An experienced Wedding Planner knows the ins and outs of the industry, who is fabulous and who to avoid and will do everything they can to give you exactly what you want and more.

My clients don’t have extravagant budgets, they have normal, realistic budgets and it is my job to make sure they don’t overspend.  I don’t know how many times I’ve heard people say their budget blew out because they had no idea what it would all cost and they got carried away when booking everything.

A good Planner won’t hijack your wedding either.  They will simply show you the best options possible and then give you the final say on every aspect of your big day.  Meaning your wedding is still your own, just without the hassle of having to research hundreds of suppliers to find the few that are right for you.

The other important aspect of my job is the moral support role.  I’m always available to answer even the most trivial of questions and will act as a mediator and support person if things get tough.  A Planner should always have your best interest at heart and be happy to remind everyone around you that it’s your wedding, not theirs…  In the nicest possible way of course!

Then there is the matter of cost; there is a total misconception that Wedding Planners are expensive.  If you take into account that a wedding usually takes around 250 hours to organise, my hourly rate ends up being around the $12 mark.  Certainly nothing to brag about!

Now factor in all of the savings that a Wedding Planner will get for you by using their regular suppliers and getting discounted rates here and there.  You’ll find that the cost of a Wedding Planner is quite insignificant when you weigh up the dollars, time and stress that you’re being saved.

For me, being a Wedding Planner is all about giving my clients a totally flawless wedding with a stress-free planning experience, which is undoubtedly going to be a better experience than the one they would have had trying to squeeze everything in around their full time jobs.

It is a personal choice to have a planner but one that should definitely be considered.  It might just help you avoid the dreaded Bridezilla Syndrome too!

I was sent my usual daily inspiration from the fabulous Snippet & Ink today and one of the photos really grabbed my attention and I felt compelled to share…

Wedding Tattoos, Source: Snippet & Ink

I love everything about this, not only is it a beautiful photo and the tattoos are very well done but the story is gorgeous too… Serena shares the story behind their tattoos: “Matthew and I have been contemplating tattoos for a long time, and after ten years together and in honor of our love and forthcoming nuptials we took the leap (both with the tattoos and marriage). We chose keys – to our hearts, life, love.”

So I thought I’d share my story too… The photo below is of our commitment tattoos, we had them done shortly after returning from our honeymoon.  In our vows we decided that “Till death do us part” was too final and we wanted to say something that went further than that.  The words “Until the end of time” just seemed to be so much more meaningful.

Our Commitment Tattoos

We both have these words engraved inside our wedding rings and on our wedding night I gave Dan a gold pocket watch, which was engraved with the words “Until the end of time”.   So when it came to deciding on the tattoos that would symbolize our commitment, it seemed fitting that this would be the choice.

Tattoos aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but for us, permanently marking our commitment to each other was the perfect way to show that we really did mean forever.

Lara White, Events Director

I guess the best place to start is to tell everyone a little bit about me…

I fell into events management way back in 1999 when I volunteered to be part of a small committee putting on a fundraising event for Radio Lollipop. Before too long I was working on the event full time and my passion was ignited. I have been managing events ever since.

Over the past 12 years I have been very fortunate to have worked on some amazing events, from romantic dinners for two through to multi-million dollar fundraising campaigns. Events have seen me travel all over Australia and I have been a part of some of the most beautiful weddings you could ever imagine. Not to mention, I’ve enjoyed many a good party!

In 2008 I had the chance to be on the other side of the event, when I married my husband, Daniel. Later that year we found out that I was pregnant with our first bub and the decision was made for me to take a couple of years off. In 2009 Riley was born. Then just 16 months later, Hudson was born… My two little men!

So now, after a two year baby break, I am back with a reignited passion and a fresh outlook on life. I’m excited about what the future holds for White Events… I have such amazing suppliers, the best that the industry has to offer in my opinion, and fantastic clients who make doing my job all the more enjoyable.

I’ve been overwhelmed by the support I’ve received during my relaunch and I can’t thank everyone enough! I’m hoping to bring you some very special things over the next few years!

I’ll be regularly adding to my blog to keep you up to date on the goings on at White Events as well as showcasing industry trends, things I love and my fantastic suppliers!

So I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it!
